Sunny Deol Reveals Why He Didn’t Talk To Shah Rukh Khan For 16 Long Years
Yash Chopra’s Darr that released in 1993 did very well and is counted amongst Shah Rukh Khan’s best performances. The actor portrayed the role of an obsessed lover who can go to any lengths for the girl. Juhi Chawla played the girl’s role whereas Sunny Deol essayed her husband, a commando.

While, all the three actors earned praises, it was SRK who walked away with the maximum amount of adulation. There were reports that Sunny Deol didn’t talk to Yash Chopra and King Khan after the film for 16 long years.

Now recently, in an interview with IndiaTV, the actor-turned-politician recalled the incident and said, "I was doing a scene in the film where Shah Rukh stabs me. I had a heated discussion with Yash Chopra regarding that scene. I tried explaining that I am a commando officer in the film, my character is an expert, I am very fit, then how can this boy (Shah Rukh's character in the film) beat me easily. He can beat me if I can't see him. If he can stab me while I am looking at him, then I won't be called a commando."

He added, "Since Yash ji was old, I respected him and couldn't say anything. I put my hands inside my pocket as I was very angry. Soon, out of anger, I didn't even realise that I had ripped my pants with my hands." He was asked as to why he didn’t speak to SRK for 16 years, to which he replied, "It's not that I didn't talk but I just cut myself off and I anyway don't socialise much. So we never met, toh baat karne ki baat he nahi hai."

In an earlier interview, he had stated that he didn’t like the fact that SRK’s negative role was glorified in the movie. "At the end of the day, people loved me in the film. They loved Shah Rukh Khan as well. My only issue with the film was that I did not know they would glorify the villain. I always work in films with an open heart and believe the person. I believe in working with trust. Unfortunately, we have many actors and stars who don’t function in this manner. Maybe that’s the way they want to get their stardom,” said Deol.
